Inhorgenta Munich 2013: Neon Trend Catches On

Nearly 30,000 trade visitors from 85 countries visited Inhorgenta Munich from February 22 to 25, 2013. A total of 1,237 exhibitors showed their lastest collections—an increase of nine per cent over the previous year. The trade show was able to further strengthen its international appeal—one third of all visitors and almost half of all exhibitors came to Munich from abroad to experience or show affordable luxury in the areas of jewelry, timepieces, and lifestyle. This year, the trade show celebrated its 40th anniversary and opened a new lifestyle hall called “Trends & Vision”.

As seen at Inhorgenta, a trend, which arose last year and appeared on the catwalks during the spring/summer shows, is catching on in 2013 in the watch and jewelry industry—neon colors. Those who could not believe their eyes last year, feeling as if they were back in the 1980s, will be surprised. Jewelry, watches, purses or shoes in neon yellow, green, fuchsia, pink, blue, red or orange accent simpler outfits on the one hand, on the other hand wonderfully complement the designer fashion in lively neon colors.

Here are some examples of jewelry designers and vendors living the neon trend at Inhorgenta Munich:

In the new “Trends & Vision” hall B3, Lizas showed its qudo and Lizas collections, including bracelets in neon colors. At the A. Ruppenthal booth in hall C1, precious stone chains sparkled in neon green and orange. In hall A2, STUDEX Europa presented its new neon collection of stud earrings which are especially designed for ear piercing. The multitude of colors of the Trollbeads, exhibited by Eulit in hall B2, also presented its fair share of neon colors.

The neon trend was even more apparent with watch manufacturers and vendors:

In hall B3, Pranda & Kroll showed the latest innovations from the Baldessarini watch collection with accents in neon green. In hall A1, M&M Uhren presented its Color Blocking Series with watch bands and details in various neon colors contrasting its black stainless steel watchcases. M&M even offers matching rings. The watches from the Marc by Marc Jacobs series and the multitude of colors of the ice-watch series presented by albu.con were eye-catching as well.

Styling tip: Combine several pieces of jewelry with a watch. Strands of hair or ombre hair, nail polish, and make-up in neon colors are a perfect match. You’ll find some examples on our “Neon Trend 2013” pinboard on Pinterest.

In fashion, Oscar de la Renta, Versus as well as Versace, Proenza Schouler, Simone Rochas and Matthew Williamson illustrate how great neon colors can look (some examples can also be found on “Neon Trend 2013”). My absolute favorites: these blue shoes with neon pink heels and neon orange laces.
